Chemical X is a potion that is added by the Mutant Creatures (1.5-1.7), Mutant Beasts (1.14-1.16), and Mutant Monsters (1.18-1.20) mods. It is used to turn any mob into its mutant form if you throw it on them.

Throwing Chemical X onto the ground creates a skull spirit that picks one random mob nearby an infects it. Then (if a mutant is available), there's a 50% chance that the mob will turn into a mutant. If not, the mob will die. You can also throw Chemical X directly at the mob to infect it.
